Emiliano Sala: Two people summonsed to court over mortuary photo of dead Cardiff City footballer
Two people are to face charges over a mortuary photograph of Emiliano Sala which appeared on social media following the Cardiff City footballer’s death, Wiltshire Police have announced.Police investigated the photo when it surfaced online earlier this year, with two arrests madeover the image.getty2

Sala died in a plane crash just days after completing a transfer to Cardiff

It has now been confirmed Sherry Bray, of Charles Street, Corsham and Christopher Ashford, of Paige Close, Calne, have been summonsed to court.Wiltshire Police said Bray, of Charles Street, Corsham, has been summonsed for three counts of computer misuse, perverting the course of justice and sending an indecent/offensive message.Ashford, of Page Close, Calne, has been summonsed in relation to six counts of computer misuse. Anthony Johns, the Crown Prosecution Service’s senior lawyer, said: “Following a careful review of the evidence provided to me by Wiltshire Police, I have authorised the police to summons Sherry Bray to appear in court where she will be formally charged with three offences of computer misuse, perverting the course of public justice and sending an indecent/offensive message.“I have also authorised Wiltshire Police to summons Christopher Ashford to appear in court where he will be formally charged with six offences of computer misuse.“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendants are now active and that they have the right to a fair trial.Air Accidents Investigation Branch2

The Piper Malbu aircraft carrying Sala went missing over the English Channel

“It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”The pair, who were arrested in February, will appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on July 10.The striker, 28, had just signed for Cardiff City when he disappeared with the pilot of the Piper Malibu private plane when it crashed in the English Channel on January 21.Sala’s body was recovered on February 6, but pilot David Ibbotson, 59, of Crowle, Lincolnshire, has not been located.
